Apex Legends Mobile: Closed Beta Rolling Out in India

If you’ve heard the news, Apex Legends has announced it will be coming to Mobile. So far, progress is being made as the first regional betas are being rolled out in India. While the official game is won’t be in everyone’s hands just yet, the regional betas will be making rounds for some lucky players to try out.

After launching closed betas in India, the next series of tests will be in the Philippines later in May.

Popular Leaker @Shrugtal has posted some exclusive Mobile skins for the beta test.

Apex Legends has posted an FAQ, which hopefully answers some questions players may have. Check it out below:

When will Apex Legends Mobile become available in my region?

We’ll be steadily rolling out Apex Legends Mobile around the world in a series of tests. To start with, we’ll do a series of smaller closed beta tests in India and the Philippines.

The first of these begins Spring 2021, and will only be available on Android devices. As we continue with testing, we’ll expand the size of these tests, add new regions, and implement iOS support. When we’re ready to go broader, we’ll launch a page that allows you to pre-register for the game and sign up for news about the betas.

For now, stay tuned to updates here and by following @playapex on Twitter.

How do I get into the tests?

Once the game becomes available in your region, you’ll be able to pre-register for it on your local Google Play Store page, so you’ll be informed automatically when the beta opens up in your area. Beta slots are limited, so those who pre-register aren’t guaranteed to get in right away, but you’ll certainly make it into a later release. Please note that this test is invitation only with a server registration limit on a first come first serve basis.

Will Apex Legends Mobile be free-to-play?

Yep, like PC and console, Apex Legends Mobile is free-to-play* and never includes paid items that grant a gameplay advantage. Apex Legends Mobile will feature its own Battle Passes, collectible cosmetics, and unlockables unique from those found in the PC and console versions of Apex Legends.

What phones is Apex Legends Mobile optimized for?

The Apex Legends Mobile is currently still in development and being optimized to run on a variety of devices. The beta specifically is available for phones running Android 6.0 and up. The mobile devices supported by this test do not represent the finally launched version, and we will support more models in the future.

Will Apex Legends Mobile feature cross-play with other versions of the game?

Because Apex Legends Mobile is being built specially for mobile, it won’t feature cross-play with the console or PC versions of Apex Legends.

What Legends/Maps/content will be included in Apex Mobile?

The game is still in development and the team is working to ensure Apex Legends Mobile truly feels like Apex Legends at its core. To start, only the World’s Edge map and some of the original Legends from the game will be playable. Additional details on the content available will be made closer to the launch of the game.

Is the regular Apex Legends team also working on Apex Legends Mobile?

Yes! We’ve built a dedicated team here at Respawn filled with experts in mobile game development to lead the creation of Apex Legends Mobile, but it’s a collaborative effort with our established Apex Legends team and other partners.

Will closed beta players keep their progress at the end of the test?

No, all progress will be wiped at the end of the test.

Which digital storefronts will feature the game?

To start with during our tests, the game will only be available on Google Play. We should note that the game should not be sideloaded through a third party site or direct APK download.

Will Seasonal content launch in the mobile version of Apex at the same time as the console version?

We don’t have any specifics to share about the live service plan at this time.

Can press get into the beta to test the game?

We are not providing early access to press at this time but we will let you know about the earliest opportunity to get hands-on with the game will be.

Will the console and PC game’s seasonal updates delayed now that Respawn is also working on a mobile version?

The team at Respawn is investing more heavily than ever in creating the future of Apex Legends, and we could not be more excited to share what’s to come in our updates on PC and console later this year. The best is yet to come!
